What To Expect On Your First Visit

Please arrive 10 minutes early to your first appointment. Your massage therapist will ask you to fill out a confidential health history form – you may also download this form on our website and bring it with you to the appointment.

Your session time includes any assessment and discussion plus the hands-on portion of your treatment. For example, a one-hour session might include 10 minutes of assessment and 50 minutes of treatment. The assessment time will vary from case to case.

You and your massage therapist will discuss your goals for the session and the best way to accomplish them, including the areas to be massaged that day. Then your therapist will leave the room while you get on the massage table, under the covers. Depending on the type of treatment and what feels comfortable for you, you may wish to leave your clothes on or take them off. You can discuss this with your therapist, who will respect your wishes.

Your massage therapist will ask you for feedback during the massage so that the treatment meets your needs. Don’t hesitate to speak up if you require any adjustments to depth of pressure, the area being treated, or anything else related to the massage.

At the end of the session, the massage therapist will again leave the room until you are dressed. Afterward, you can discuss the treatment, any self-care suggestions, and whether another treatment is recommended. Your registered massage therapist will give you a receipt that you can submit to your insurance company, and will accept payment from you by cash or by cheque.
