Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know what type of massage to choose?
This web site gives an explanation of several types of massage and their benefits. If you are still not sure which is best for you, please contact me to discuss your particular needs and determine which style is most appropriate for you.

What is covered by my extended health care plan?
Body Poets delivers only registered massage therapy services. Please check with your insurance provider concerning the details of your plan.

How long is a session, and what does it include?
Sessions vary in length from 30 minutes to 2 hours. A massage session includes consultation and assessment, which are essential to a successful treatment, the hands-on time spent working on your body, and home care suggestions when appropriate.

What should I do if I have to cancel my appointment?
If you need to change or cancel an appointment, please give me 24 hours’ notice so that I can give this time to another client. With less than 24 hours’ notice, you may be charged 50% of the appointment fee.

If you miss your appointment without calling, you may be charged the full appointment fee.

What if I’m late?
If you are late, call if you can (613-234-3920 x 2) and come anyway. We may be able to accomplish some of your goals in the time remaining, and we can book another appointment if the time is insufficient. You may be charged the full appointment fee.

What do I wear?
For Thai massage, please wear layers of comfortable, stretchy clothes that you can move in easily. Long shorts or stretch pants are better than short shorts.

For Swedish massage, you will be covered by sheets while on the heated massage table. You will have privacy to undress to your level of comfort and to get on the table before the massage starts. Many clients prefer to undress completely, while some are more comfortable wearing underpants or some or all of their outer clothing. It is important for you to feel comfortable during the massage.

Do I give a tip?
No. While the thought is appreciated, tips are not expected or accepted at Body Poets Massage Therapy.

How do I pay?
Currently, payment is by cash or by cheque (made out to Ellen Symons). In the near future, Body Poets Massage Therapy will be accepting Interac transactions.
