Frequently Asked Questions

How do I pay?
We accept debit, VISA, MasterCard, cheque or cash.

What is covered by my health care insurance benefits?
All of our therapists are Registered Massage Therapists, and we deliver only registered massage therapy services. Most extended health care benefits cover some amount of massage therapy; sometimes a doctor’s referral is required. Please check with your insurance provider concerning the details of your plan.

We can do direct billing to Blue Cross, and we can do treatment plans and submit the forms if your treatment is part of a motor vehicle accident insurance claim.

How do I know what type of massage to choose?
This web site gives an explanation of several types of massage and their benefits. If you are still not sure which is best for you, please contact us to discuss your particular needs and determine which style is most appropriate for you.

How long is a session, and what does it include?
Sessions vary in length from 30 minutes to 2 hours. A massage session includes assessment and the hands-on treatment; and home care suggestions when appropriate. A thirty-minute session can target one area effectively; if you have more than one achy place, we recommend a minimum of forty-five minutes.

What should I do if I have to change or cancel my appointment?
Please contact our main office at 613-222-0465, info@bodypoets.com, or contact your therapist directly. You must give us 24 hours’ notice to change or cancel your appointment, or you will be charged the full fee for the session.

What if I’m late?
Please call your therapist to say that you are on the way. Your appointment will end at the scheduled time.

What do I wear?
Thai massage: Comfortable, stretchy clothing
Craniosacral therapy: Everyday clothes
Rolf Method of Structural Integration: Women – sports bra and light shorts, or two-piece bathing suit; Men – light shorts or bathing suit

For all styles of massage, you will have privacy to change or to undress to your level of comfort and to get on the massage table, under the covers, before the massage starts. Depending on the type of treatment and what feels comfortable for you, you may wish to leave your clothes on or take them off. You can discuss this with your therapist, who will respect your wishes.

Do I give a tip?
No, thank you very much. We do not accept tips; we do accept referrals and we love to have you as a returning client.
